In recognition of the role of knowledge-based economies in development, the Federal University Lafia was charged with applying innovation and technology to advance knowledge. The growth of economies throughout the world is driven by continual innovation through the pursuit of knowledge; higher education plays an important role in the modern economies, with knowledge supplanting physical capital as the source of wealth. Accordingly, knowledge is a critical factor for citizenship development, for informed decision-making and participation in rapid development of the country.
The Federal University Lafia is a recently established University situated in Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa State in 2010 by the Goodluck Jonathan administration as one of the nine new Federal Universities established in the six geo-political zones of Nigeria.
