FULafia V-C commends staff for commitment to work

The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, has commended staff of the Directorate of Environmental Safety of the University for dedication and commitment to their duty.

Abdul Rahman made the commendation during an interactive meeting with staff of the Directorate made up of internal security personnel, cleaners and gardeners in the University,   

Describing them as some of the most important members of the University Community, the vice-chancellor noted that throughout the strike period, the staff were on the ground to provide essential services. 

He said the meeting was called to appreciate the workers for what they have done for the University, encouraging them to redouble their efforts, especially, as the University was set to commence academic activities soon. 

Abdul Rahman expressed the readiness of the University to provide trainings for the different categories of staff of the Directorate to enhance their performance.

He also stated that tools and equipment needed to improve their productivity would be provided within the shortest possible time.

He added that the Management had also put in place a committee to identify and reward those who distinguish themselves in their areas of assignment, saying that "the University would have a Hall of Fame where photographs of such staff would be placed to serve as motivation for others."

The vice-chancellor, equally, called on them to discharge their duties within the rule and regulations of the University and report any act capable of breaching the peace and security on campus.

He warned that anyone found wanting in the discharge of his or her duties would be dealt with decisively.

In their different responses, some staff of the Directorate expressed their gratitude to the vice-chancellor for convening the interactive sessions, saying that it showed how much they were valued by the University. 

They called on the Management to make such interactions regular.

In his remarks, the Director of Environmental Safety, Wing Comrd. Umar Mohammed Awe (Rtd), promised to work harder to justify the confidence repose in them.

He expressed his appreciation to the vice-chancellor for supporting and encouraging staff of the Directorate.
