The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Prof. Shehu Abdul Rahman, has commended members of the Taskforce on Sanitation, Fumigation and Repairs of Damaged Property in the University for doing good works assigned to them. 

Abdul Rahman made the commendation when he received a preliminary report of the taskforce, in his office, describing the report as "one of the best output of committees" works he has received."

He said that following the decision of the University's Senate to resume academic activities on November 7, 2022, there was the need to prepare for students resumption, praising the volume and quality of work done by the taskforce within the short time it was constituted. 

The vice-chancellor advised staff of the University to always take committees' assignments seriously, saying that such works serve as sources of value addition to the individual members. 

He urged the committee to come up with useful recommendations in their final report that would assist the University Management to make wise decisions. 

Earlier, the chairman of the taskforce, Dr Mohammed Tanko Aliyu, appreciated the vice-chancellor for his wisdom and dedication to the development of the University.

He told the vice-chancellor that the taskforce has completed fumigation and sanitation of hotels and academic environment, repaired five boreholes within the two campuses, restored electricity in some faculties, repaired and purchased some equipment to ensure effective sanitation activities on the campuses. 

He assured the vice-chancellor that before resumption of students, the two campuses would be ready for conducive teaching and learning.

Aliyu thanked the vice-chancellor for the confidence he reposed in the taskforce to carry out the responsibilities given to it, promising not to disappoint.

Members of the taskforce include Engr Zakari Ayitogo, Director of Works, Wing Comrd. Umar Mohammed Awe (Rtd), Director, Environmental Safety, Musa Dahiru, Principal Assistant Registrar/Secretary, School of Postgraduate Studies, Orkuma Ityonzughul, Chief Internal Auditor, Baban Sabuwa H. Abubakar, Chief Technical Officer, Gambo Tompe, Senior Accountant, Femi Ogungbemi, Principal Assistant Registrar/Secretary and Mrs. Amina Garba.
