The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Prof. Shehu Abdul Rahman, has admonished youths in Nigeria to dedicate their lives to the service of the country.

The vice-chancellor gave the admonition during a farewell meeting he had with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members, Batch C, Stream 2, who served in the University.

In what was described as a "life-changing farewell speech," Prof. Abdul Rahman counseled the exiting NYSC members to set targets and standards for themselves, saying: "Knowing what you want to achieve in life is the first step to success."

While commending them for the good behaviours they exhibited throughout their stay in the University, the vice-chancellor advised them to develop strong value system to motivate them and guide their decisions.

Abdul Rahman said that "your values would help you to create the future you want and nobody achieves anything positive without a strong value system."

Describing relationship as a resource, Abdul Rahman called on the youths to develop and keep relationships with friends, neighbours, co-workers and other associates. 

Also speaking, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Registrar, Bursar and University Librarian, Amali, Nuradeen Abdu, Wilson and Iyoro, respectively, advised the outgoing NYSC members to use their service year's experiences to better their lives and impact positively on the nation. 

Highlight of the event was the presentation of commendation letters to the members of the NYSC Batch C, Stream 2, who served in the University.

The event took place at the Senate Chamber, of the University on November 7, 2022.
