Staff of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) have commended the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Shehu Abdul Rahman, for his style of administration.

Describing him as a man with a genuine interest in the welfare of staff and development of the University, the staff said that FULafia was going through its best moments.

The vice-chancellor received the commendation during the 8th regular meeting of the Congregation of the University.

The meeting, which was held to discuss the general situation in the University and prepare for a smooth resumption of students, provided an opportunity for staff to extol the leadership qualities of the vice-chancellor.

In their various contributions, the staff said the leadership style of the Abdul Rahman-led management was one which inspires trust, foster communication, and motivate staff, saying they would continue to support him to succeed.

They expressed their gratitude to the vice-chancellor for always providing platforms for regular engagement between the staff and Management, saying that the development has increased the level of the workplace relationship.

They noted that his administrative style has improved accountability and transparency in the system.

Members of the University community also stated that since his assumption of office, the vice-chancellor has focused on the welfare of staff by identifying with them, understanding the challenges and providing support to vulnerable members of the University.

Earlier in his speech, the vice-chancellor, welcomed staff of the University back to campus after the ASUU strike.

He expressed his gratitude to them for their support to his administration which, he said, was evidenced in the number of achievements the University has recorded in the last couple of months.

He commended those who made themselves available whenever they were needed during the strike to provide services.

However, Abdul Rahman reminded them of the enormous tasks ahead, calling on them to prepare, physically and psychologically, as the University sets to commence academic activities.

He told staff to be mindful of the core values of the University, namely, Integrity, Innovation and Excellence.

He urged them to always operate within the values, rules and regulations of the institution.

Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman also admonished staff to draw lessons from the recently suspended strike embarked on by the unions, saying that while pursuing national interest, the institutional and individual interest must not be allowed to suffer.
