FULafia set to work with Nollywood to train students

The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Prof. Shehu Abdul Rahman, recently, hosted the officials of the Film and Video Producers, Marketers and Distribution Association of Nigeria (FVPMADON), in his office with a call on the officials to use their association to educate Nigerians on development issues.


The FVPMADON is an effective and prominent arm of the Nollywood Film Industry in Nigeria.


The National President of FVPMADON, Comrade M. J. Abutu, who led the delegation, stated that the motive of their visit was to exchange views with the vice-chancellor and identify grounds to partner with the institution with a view to helping students develop acting and businesses skills while on campus.


He said that the association "will like to train the students in different skills such as screenwriting, editing, cinematography, make-up, directing and acting."


Abutu said that the memorandum of understanding his association sought to sign with the University, the association would provide some equipment and technical advise while the "University will provide the needed training for especially students."


Responding, Abdul Rahman appreciated the executives of the Film and Video Producers, Marketers and Distribution Association of Nigeria for coming, saying: "Your visit is very important and timely, as we have programmes that are related to your area of specialisation."


The University, he said, was created to disseminate knowledge and skills, adding that "the contest and content of the proposed collaboration are very vital and timely."


He said that the University "is here not just to give the credentials, but also the requisite knowledge and skills that will benefit its students after graduation."


The event had in attendance, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Idris O. O. Amali, Chief Security Officer, Wing Commander Umar Muhammed Awe, and S. A to the V-C, Mr. Musa Bashir Agbawu.
