The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Prof. Muhammad Sanusi Liman, has challenged universities and research institutes to be in the vanguard of finding solutions to the dreaded COVID-19 pandemic currently ravaging the world.

Liman issued his challenge in his office, recently, when he welcomed a team of scientists from FULafia.

The scientists were in his office to donate several cartons of
alcohol-based sanitizers to the University.

The alcohol-based sanitizers were produced by the combined team of scientists working in the University.

Liman said that the production and presentation of the sanitizers by the team came at a time the Federal Government was mapping out a strategy to reopen schools, noting that the sanitizers were some of the necessary preventive measures needed to mitigate the spread of the virus on campus.

The vice-chancellor thanked the team for its intervention, urging other groups to emulate the group of the scientists.
Earlier, the leader of the team, Dr. Nasirudeen Baba, while handing over the items to the vice-chancellor, expressed the teams' appreciation to the Management of the University for the support and encouragement his team received before, during and after the production of the sanitizers.

He disclosed that the sanitizers were produced by the department of chemistry and packaged in 200ml, 250ml, and 500ml.
Dr. Baba acknowledged the contributions of others such as Adeshina Yomi of the department of visual and creative arts who designed the package for the sanitizers.

The event had in attendance Dr. Rebecca Ape, the University Librarian, and Mr. Daniel, Anjoola Wilson, the University Bursar.
