News and Updates

The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Professor Muhammad Sanusi Liman, has stated that the procurement department will now utilise digital technology in all procurement activities in the university.

The head of the procurement department, Mr. Isa Tukur, who disclosed this to FULafia Bulletin, said the vice-chancellor has since approved the purchase and installation of bid evaluation and monitoring evaluation software to enhance procurement in the institution.

Tukur said: “Almost every institution in Nigeria has joined the rest of the world to ensure that the best global practice in public procurement process is strictly adhered to by going digital in order to allow for more participation, efficiency and transparency towards ensuring that the public procurement reform receives the needed attention and delivers ultimately.”

He said that the department operates manually but with the installation of bid evaluation and monitoring evaluation software, "we can monitor the performance of a contractor without being to the site via the software device and assist in the evaluation report and this initiative reduces cost and guarantees efficiency and transparency".

Tukur, who is the national assistant secretary-general of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply Management of Nigeria (CIPSMN), said the professional body was established to advance professional standards in procurement, purchasing, stores, materials management, logistics management, and supply chain management.

He said that in “FULafia we can now beat our chest to say that since the coming of vice-chancellor Liman everything we do is within the law stipulated in the Bureau for Public Procurement (BPP) 2007 Act."
