The staff of the Academic Planning Directorate of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) have been enjoined to work as a team for the development of the University.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor of FULafia, Professor Idris O.O Amali, who is also the director of academic planning directorate, gave the advice during a party he organised for staff of the directorate at his office in Lafia.

Amali commended his staff for their performance which he described as excellent.

He, specifically, praised them for their recent efforts that culminated in FULafia getting approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to commence full academic activities in 18 programmes.

While applauding the contributions of his staff, Amali said: "I commend you all for achievements we have recorded, especially in the areas of staff development, expansion of academic programmes, creation of new faculties, departments, centres and directorates, as well as the recently approved 18 new programmes by the NUC. These achievements would not have been realised without your support. Of course, I'm aware that you experienced some daunting challenges, but you came out victorious. Thank you all."

Dr Abubakar Hassan Ahmed, the deputy registrar of the directorate, while describing academic planning directorate as the "heartbeat of the university", thanked Amali for finding them worthy of his commendation, saying that the gesture would spur them to be more committed to the development of FULafia.

Mrs Itafiogita Nkang, the deputy registrar, academic affairs unit, said: "a time like this calls for celebration and we are not resting because the forthcoming combined convocation is also fast approaching."

She thanked the the deputy vice-chancellor for always recognising and appreciating their efforts, promising not to betray the confidence he reposed in them.

Mr. Farouk Neslea Ahmed, a senior assistant registrar of academic affairs unit, described Prof. Amali as “an astute academician and a man of peace from whom there is always one thing or the other to learn."

All the staff of the directorate attended the event.
