All roads would, next month, lead to the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) as the Faculty of Social Sciences holds its third annual conference.

The conference has as its theme: National Security, COVID-19 and Social Issues in Nigeria.

To make the conference the best of its kind, the Vice-Chancellor of FULafia, Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, the host, has led the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Dr Abdullahi Jibrin Dan'Asabe and some top lecturers of the faculty to pay a special visit to the the Governor of Nasarawa State, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, at the Government House, Lafia.

Governor Sule is expected to deliver a keynote address at the conference while the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Honourable Ahmed Idris Wase, would serve as the chairman.

Meanwhile, the dean of the faculty, Dr Abdullahi Jibrin Dan'Asabe, was conferred with the prestigious Fellowship of the Institute of Management Consultants (IMC) of Nigeria.

The event took place, recently, in Abuja.

The Institute of Management Consultants is an approved and registered body of professional management consultants empowered to regulate the standards and practice of management consulting amongst its members throughout Nigeria.

Dan'Asabe bagged the award in recognition of his "outstanding academic and professional standing and demonstrated commitment to creating, maintaining, extending and promoting the highest world standards of management consulting practice, ethics, competence and client service” in Nigeria.

Speaking with the FULafia Bulletin, the dean appreciated the management staff of FULafia, especially Abdul Rahman, for their support, saying: “I am, indeed, delighted and happy that the institute has deemed it fit to recognise my contributions. While I thank the institute for this honour, I recognise that this is a call to do more and I can assure you that I will not relent in my efforts and determination to maintain high professional standards at all times.”

He said that the award would encourage him to achieve more, bearing in his mind the call of the vice-chancellor for hard work and core values of FULafia - integrity, innovation and excellence.

Dan'Asabe has, since his assumption of office as the dean of the faculty, prioritised research, organised seminars, public lectures and improved the relationship between students and staff of the faculty.

Recently, the faculty, in collaboration with the Nasarawa State Government, conducted baseline research with a view to reforming primary and secondary schools education in the state.

Among other notable dignitaries expected to attend the planned October conference in FULafia are the Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, and Vice-Chancellor, Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Prof. Suleiman Bala Mohammed, who would serve as the lead presenter at the conference.
