For members of the Eggon Staff Forum, Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), led by Prof. Victor Dugga, last week, it was a matter of making their visit to the Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman a two-faced event.

Firstly, the visit was made to congratulate Abdul Rahman on his appointment, in February, as the third vice-chancellor of FULafia, though late but, as the members have observed, it, still, was better late than never.

And, secondly, to thank the vice-chancellor for carrying them along in his administration, giving them, each, a sense of belonging and, specifically, appointing sons of the Eggon nation into key offices in the University.

Notable among them, they listed Dugga, who is now the dean of FULafia Postgraduate School, succeeding Dr Nasirudeen Baba, who has been moved to the Faculty of Science in the same position of dean.

Speaking, Dr Edward Anzaku, who spoke on behalf of the delegation, said they were in the office of Abdul Rahman to identify themselves with his giant strides and impactful leadership style, expressing the Forum’s readiness to support the vice-chancellor to achieve his lofty vision and mission for the University.

In his speech, the vice-chancellor thanked them for the visit and supporting his administration, charging them to be committed to their work.

Abdul Rahman reminded the members of the Forum that his administration would always consider merit “when it comes to appointments and nobody can use me, for or against anybody.”

The vice-chancellor promised to assist the Eggon Forum to realise its mandate of forging unity among its members and with others within FULafia and developing the University.

He said that his doors were open for advices, from all quarters, on how to better workings of the University.

The visit came to a climax when the vice-chancellor was decorated with the Eggon traditional attire (Ekili) and presented with a framed congratulatory card.

Present at the visit were the Bursar, Mr. Wilson Daniel, who is a member of the Eggon Forum, Mr. Farouk N. Ahmed, the head of the Academic Affairs Unit, staff and students of the Eggon Nation.
