The Executive Secretary, National Commission for Persons with Disability (NCPWD), Mr. James David Lalu, has donated digital audiomiter to Federal University of Lafia (FULafia).

An audiometer is a machine used for evaluating hearing acuity.

An audiometer, usually, consists of an embedded hardware unit connected to a pair of headphones and a test subject feedback button, sometimes controlled by a standard PC. 

Such systems can also be used with bone vibrators to test conductive hearing mechanisms.

Lalu made the presentation on Wednesday, at his office in Abuja, while playing host to a delegation from the Federal University of Lafia, led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Shehu Abdul Rahman.

He appreciated FULafia for introducing special needs education in the University.

The Lalu said that the commission has employed more than 300 sign language interpreters, expressing his hope that FULafia would enjoy their services

Earlier, Abdul Rahman appreciated the executives secretary for visiting him at Lafia, where the two bodies agreed to establish a department for sign language communication and interpretation in Federal University of Lafia.

The vice-chancellor used the medium to call on Lalu to make use of his good offices to inform the TETFund and other organasations to collaborate with FULafia in the area of special need education.
