The Managing Director, Na'Allah Farms Nigeria Limited, Alhaji Ahmed Na'Allah Shabu, has distributed more than 100 tree seedlings to Federal University of Lafia (FULafia).

The gesture was part of the organisation's corporate social responsibility and contribution to combat desertification and drought.

Alhaji Na'Allah made the donation at the Central Administration Block of the University in the Permanent Site Campus in Lafia.

The donation, according to Na'Allah, was part of his desire as a farmer to make Federal University of Lafia free from effects of climate change noticeable in forms of temperature, flooding, drought and desertification.

The Managing Director of Na'Allah Farms, Shabu, lamented natural consequences associated with climate change, saying that Nigerians can do a lot to mitigate effects of climate change.

Na'Allah, a prominent Nigerian farmer, advised people to embrace agriculture, saying that through that way contributions can be made to fight effects of climate change.

He said: "My contributions to the development of agriculture in Nigeria made me a member of the Presidential Committee on Tropical Fruit Crops Production in Nigeria. I was appointed by the then president Olusegun Obasanjo in the year 2006, also in 2008, the late president Umaru Musa Yar'Adua appointed me to be part of the Committee for National Tree Crop Distribution and I also served in various committees within the state and national levels and contributed to the development of agriculture in Nasarawa State and Nigeria as a whole."

According to him, the Na'Allah Farms, Shabu, has been in existence since 1976 and the farms is into tree crops farming, animals husbandry, fishing and ornamental plants.

Na'Allah said that the farm has participated in national agricultural shows, trade fairs within and outside the state.

Na'Allah is a recipient of the National Productivity Merit Award, presented to him by President Olusegun Obasanjo in 2004.
