The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Prof. Idris O. O. Amali, was honoured with an Award of Prudence by the Igbo Students Association of FULafia, just as he urged students to be obedient, shun vices and dedicate time to their studies.

Presenting the award to Amali, in his office, the president of the association, Prince Nze-Nwa-Iheoma Tachi Austin, stated that they decided to honour Amali because “we recognise you as our father who stood by us during our years in FULafia and we also consider your contributions to the development of academic and cultural values.”
Responding, Amali appreciated the leadership of the Igbo students association for the honour done to him, saying that he did not expect it.

“This is a pleasant surprise from the Igbo students association,” Amali said, adding: I am happy because the award came from an enlightened society. We are training you to be good ambassadors of FULafia, Nigeria and your families. This University will continue to support students who are ready to work in accordance with the core values of the institution, namely, integrity, innovation and excellence.

He called on the executives of the Igbo Students Association to be of good example to other students on campus and shun cultism, warning that the “University doesn’t condone such menace.”

He advised them to face their “studies because social activity is not reason that brought you to the University.”

Amali urged them to “get educated and build the country, learn skills while in school so that your tomorrow will be brighter.”
