The Vice-Chancellor of Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, has urged staff, especially those recently employed, to work in line with the University's core values of Integrity, Innovation and Excellence to achieve the institution's mission and vision.

Declaring a recent three-day senior and junior staff induction training event open, Abdul Rahman said that the objective of training was to develop quality of personnel and ingrain in them codes of conduct.

The event, held at the Adamu Adamu Lecture and Office Complex, Permanent Site Campus of FULafia, was organised by the Federal University of Lafia in collaboration with the Helicopter Consultant.

While congratulating the new staff on their appointment, Abdul Rahman explained that the induction training "is one of the University's tradition to help new staff to discharge their roles effectively," adding that "all employees will be treated equally in accordance with rules and regulations of the University.

The vice-chancellor appealed to the participants to support the University achieve its goals.

He, also, called on them to assimilate all they were told, saying: "Make sure you benefit from the training."

Earlier, in his welcome address, the Registrar of FULafia, Dr Abubakar Mamuda, informed the participants that the induction training "is done to integrate new employees into the University system and make them understand the system and procedures in operation in the University."

Mamuda commended the vice-chancellor for creating an enabling environment to develop manpower in the University, saying that the idea of the workshop was informed by the vice-chancellor "who requested me to put together the programme that will build capacity of participants."

He said that the Helicopter Consultant "is a training firm with highly respected personalities," urging the participants to use the opportunity to tap from the vast experiences of resource persons.

In his remarks, the pioneer registrar of the Federal University of Gashua, Yobe State, who is the key resource person at the firm and workshop, Alhaji Sule Dauda, maintained that for the University to fulfill its mission, staff have to be trained and retrained for better service delivery.

Other resources persons were the Registrar of Kaduna Polytechnic, Kaduna, Dr. Sani Musa and Mr. Muhammed Dahiru Suleiman, Training Coordinator of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria.
