Abdul Rahman to families of kidnapped students: My heart, thoughts are with you

The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, has condemned the kidnapping of four students of the University in Lafia by unknown thugs.

The regrettable incident happened in the night at a neighbouring community of the University called Mararrabar Akunza on January 13, 2022.

Abdul Rahman had, immediately, the news of the kidnapping broke, called the Commissioner of Police, Nasarawa State Command, Adesina Soyemi, appealing to the police to ensure the safe and quick return of the students, adding that measures were put in place to forestall future occurrences.

While addressing some students in the area where the students were kidnapped, the vice-chancellor assured them of the University management's commitment to secure the environment and see to the safe return of the kidnapped students.

He said: “My thoughts are with the families, friends and colleagues in this time and we would do everything possible to make sure these students are released without any harm and in no distant time."

The vice-chancellor also had a meeting with the Students' Representative Council (SRC) where he said that those who thought that they could make money through illegal businesses such as kidnapping had better change their mind, repent and engage themselves in lawful businesses.

He assured the SRC that the kidnapped students would, God willing, return home soon and safely so.

He said that the security agencies were already on top of the matter. 

Abdul Rahman said: “I want you to keep calm and concentrate on your studies. Calm other students and be vigilant at all times and especially at night."
