The Vice-Chancellor of Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Prof. Shehu Abdul Rahman, has called for the quick implementation of the recently signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the University and Film and Video Producers, Marketers and Distributors Association of Nigeria (FVPMADON).

Abdul Rahman gave the charge when members of FVPMADON visited him in furtherance of discussion held after the signing of the MoU between the body and FULafia. 

Abdul Rahman, who was represented by th Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Idris O.O Amali, said that on its part, the University has concluded arrangements for the implementation of the MoU.

Speaking earlier, the National President of FVPMADON, Comrade M. J. Abutu, who led the delegation, stated that they visited the University to notify the vice-chancellor of their readiness to work with the University, adding that, soon, a work plan would be put in place for that purpose.

In his part, the Project Ambassador of the association, Mr. Tony Goodman, said that the much anticipated project, when it comes into being, would equip students with skills and help them become employers of labour.

He said: "The MoU is expected to address some of the problems associated with unemployment in the society to the bearest minimum."

Those who accompanied the chairman of the association to FULafia included the Nasarawa State Task Force Chairman, Mr Katsu Terfa Francis; Isaac Odihi; Mrs. Beatrice U. Peters; Usman Galadima; Zaki-Ogah Juliana Otashi; Nathan Akpegi; Ekeh Charles Romero; Aker James; Sunny Chris Obande and Mercy Julius.

Others were Tony Goodman, Dr Phelyx Azegetor and Anthony Samson.

It would be recalled that on February 11, 2022, the Federal University of Lafia and the Film and Video Producers, Marketers and Distributors Association of Nigeria signed a Memoradum of Understanding for the promotion of their activities.

The MoU is also intended to train and retrain FULafia students, especially from the departments of the theatre and media arts and mass communication on video making, film production and capacity building for self reliability after graduation.
