Abdul Rahman bags AYAGG Meritorious Award of Excellence

The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, has been honoured with 'Award of Excellence' in recognition of his contribution to youths development and students empowerment.


The award, tagged: ‘’Epitome of Deligent Service,” was presented to Professor Abdul Rahman at his office by Ambassador Abdulrahman Ibrahim, the President of AYAGG, in Lafia.


The president said that the award was conferred on the vice-chancellor in recognition of his "exceptional track record of towards youths development, societal upliftment and relentless service to humanity."


Ambassador Ibrahim said that the AYAGG was impressed by Abdul Rahman's performances and achievements, adding: "These were the things that informed the need to honour him today."


He informed the vice-chancellor that AYAGG "is a non-governmental and non-partisan organisation present in the 19 northern states and Abuja with the aim of promoting peace and unity, advocating for good governance as well as enlightening the youths on issues that affect their communities."


According to the president, the organisation collaborates with well-meaning stakeholders, religious bodies, philanthropic and government organisations to organise leadership training programmes for graduates, lectures on mentorship, counsels against drugs abuse, gender base violences and promotes girls-child education and how to be self-employed.


While describing Abdul Rahman as a shining example of diligence, excellence and competence, the president said: "We are here to identify with your good works and associate with you because you have positively impacted on the lives of our youths. We're also here to benefit from your experience so that we can prosper in life."


Receiving the award, the vice-chancellor expressed his profound gratitude to AYAGG for finding him worthy for the award. 


He dedicated the award to the staff and students of FULafia, saying that without their support nothing could be achieved.


He commended the group's members for their advocacy programmes, urging them to always engage youths on activities that add value to the society.


Those who accompanied the president of AYAGG included ambassadors Hassan Yahaya, Hisbullaha Umar and Fubaira D. Udgumeye.
