Dr. Muhammad Tanko Aliyu (popularly called: Baitullah) is an Associate Professor of Qur'anic Studies. He is currently the Ag. Head of Department, Islamic Studies, and Deputy Dean, Faculty of Arts, Federal University of Lafia, Nasarawa State, Nigeria. He holds B. A. in Qur'an and Hadith (2002) of OIC Islamic University in Niger Republic, M. A. Islamic Studies (2007) of University of Jos and PhD Islamic Studies (2014) of Bayero University Kano. He worked with the Nasarawa State University Keffi, Nasarawa State where he rose through the ranks to Senior Lecturer from 2004 to 2019 before joining the services of Federal University, Lafia as Associate Professor. He has taught Qur'an and Hadith and other related courses in the last sixteen years of his University teaching experience and has to his credit many publications including two (2) books, twenty (20) Journal articles in reputable national and international journals, four (4) chapters in Books, eight (8) articles in edited conference proceedings and articles in news papers. He served as Editor for many journals and conference proceedings. He had supervised many undergraduate projects and some M. A. Dissertations and currently supervising PhDs at the Nasarawa State University Keffi. He held many administrative positions, membership of committees at Departmental, Faculty, Senate and University levels. He had presented more than twenty academic papers in conferences, seminars and workshops, conducted many community services and delivered many public lectures across Nigeria. He is currently the Chief Imam, Federal University of Lafia and the chief Imam and sermon-giver as well as the Director of Abubakar Siddiq Mosque and Islamic Centre (ASMIC), Bukar Ari, Lafia, Nasarawa State and Chairman, Nigeria Association of Teachers of Arabic and Islamic Studies (NATAIS), Nasarawa State Branch. He is also a member of the Union of African Muslim Scholars, Nigerian Qur'anic Society (NQS) and Academic Society for Arabic Language and Literature in Nigeria (ASALLIN).

M. T. Aliyu hails from Lafia, Nasarawa State, memorised the Qur'an during his secondary education at El-Kanemi College of Islamic Theology Maiduguri, Borno State of Nigeria and is happily married with children.
