Monitoring, assessment and modelling of Environmental Pollution. Also interested in the modelling of food quality and forecasting of their shelf-life.

Biography

Dr Timothy Marhiere Akpomie was born in Jos, Plateau State in the early 70s. At just nine months of age, he had started walking and running up and down in and around the neighborhood. Unfortunately, at the age of two plus, he contracted the polio virus. Since then, he has been confined to a wheelchair.

Unperturbed by his physical limitation and propelled by his love for education, Dr Akpomie practically forced his parents to enroll him in school to acquire education. His parents duly obliged and enrolled him in a school close to the house and the boy never disappointed.

He was among the top 5 in his primary and post-primary schools and proceeded to study Chemistry at the prestigious University of Jos. Dr Akpomie graduated in 1999 and served with the Nigerian national petroleum corperation (NNPC) Jos depot in the year 2000.

With the lingering quest for further education, he went back to the University of Jos for his Masters degree in Analytical Chemistry and later proceeded to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) Bauchi for his PhD in Analytical Chemistry and was awarded the degree in April, 2014. Dr Akpomie had successfully run a small soap manufacturing and sachet water producing companies in Jos while pursuing his doctorate degree. He joined the services of the Federal University of Lafia in 2015 as a lecturer II. He was promoted to Lecturer I in October, 2018. He has since been involved in a lot of teaching, research, undergraduate and postgraduate supervision and community services.

Dr Akpomie has also published numerous papers both in local and international journals and is currently the postgraduate Coordinator of his Department is married to his beautiful wife, Jane (also a Chemist) and are blessed with three Children.
