Biography

Dr. Adaka Terfa Ahon lectures in the Department of Special Needs Education, Federal University of Lafia (FU-Lafia), Nigeria. Dr Adaka attended the College of Education, Katsina-Ala where he obtained his Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) majoring in English/History, Adaka proceeded to the Bayero University Kano where he bagged BA(Ed) in Special Education. Dr Adaka also obtained M.Ed and Ph.D both from the University of Nigeria in Special Education and currently Adaka is a BSc (Pub Admin) student of University of Maiduguri.. In terms of working experience, Adaka served at the FCT College of Education, Zuba-Abuja for his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and was later employed by Federal College of Education (Tech), Gombe. Dr Adaka later transferred his services to the University of Maiduguri where he taught briefly before joining FU-Lafia as a Faculty Member where he is today a Senior Lecturer. Adaka has served as a panellist at National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) accreditation of NCE Special Education program at the Colleges of Education, Minna and Gumel as well as the Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo and Umaru Waziri Federal Polytechnic, Birin Kebbi. Adaka is currently serving as External Examiner, Special Education Department, College of Education, Minna. Dr Adaka has membership of several editorial boards among such include: Editorial Secretary, Gombe Educational Studies; Editorial Administrator, The Voice of Teachers; Editorial Consultant, International Journal on Social Science Research &National Development, Editorial Consultant, Sahel International Multi-Disciplinary Journal of Federal Polytechnic, Damaturu; Deputy Editor, The Special Educator; Editorial Consultant, Sahel Journal of Teacher Education, Editorial Consultant, Sahel Journal of Teacher Education, a Journal of COEASU, North-East Zone, Editor, Research Journal in Comparative Education (RJCE), Editor, Journal of Educational Research in Developing Areas and Editor in Chief, The Exceptional Child, a journal of National Association for Exceptional Children (NAEC) and Member Editorial Board, Liispring Research & Publication, India. Dr. Adaka has over 60 scholarly articles published to his credit in reputable national and international journals as well as chapter contributions. He has co-edited several books with several seasoned academics. Dr Adaka is a member of NAEC and National Association of Special Education Teachers (NASET) where he currently serves as National Secretary General and Deputy Editor respectively.

In the University, Dr Adaka is currently serving as Level Adviser for BSc (Ed) Community Based Rehabilitation & Social Empowerment and chairs the Faculty of Education Research, Seminar/Conference & Publications Committee. He is a member of University Students’ Disciplinary Committee and a Board Member of Center for Agricultural & Rural Development Studies (CARDS). Adaka is a Fellow of Chartered Institute of Leadership and Educational Development (FCILED).
